YA THINK? I saw those side fenders and wondered aloud if there will be a newer version of the side skirts for the mids or lates on the horizon.

The color plates reminded me of a question I meant to ask when I got the Tunisia 131 Tiger-

Dragon's color plates show a green camo over the brown base. Bovington's repaint of 131 has more of a brownish camo color over the base, which I thought was supposed to be accurate. which one is right?

The tanks were base coated in RAL 8000 which is a golden brown color. The pattern was RAL 7008 which is the greenish gray color.

In actuality the two colors were close in tonal value. The patterns are hard to distinguish in B/W photos, not to mention being covered in dust, dirt and grime.

There are shots of the various Tigers of sPzAbt 501 where you can determine that Feifel air cleaners were in the lighter RAL 8020 or, at least one, in dark gray.

Tiger 131 was from a later batch, sPzAbt 504. They all appear to be the RAL 8000/7008 with no variation on the small bits.

I have a question for the group.

The Pz III N's of sPzAbt 501 were definitely painted RAL 8000, but is their any indication a RAL 7008 pattern was painted on any of them?

@Homer0331 – Ian,

I do believe there is a topic here in Armorma started here by Bill Plunk on this color issue, just didn’t look for it, sorry. However you may find his build log over at his website concerning this vehicle of interest. I don’t know if the Pz III support vehicles in both sPzAbt 501 and sPzAbt 504 were painted in the same way?

If you check "evilbay" periodically, you'll find that that particular kit can be bought for A LOT LESS money than the $400 that some unscrupulous profiteer has posted for his. People like this p***k give this hobby a bad name!

Last one to sell on Ebay was for $70. Of course it was a Buy Now.

I have a bunch of Tigers now, the newer Wittmann Tiger (Dragon 6730), the Tiger I Initial Production (6600), the Ottoa Carius Mid Production (Cyber Hobby 6763), the 'regular Cyber Hobby Mid Production 6660, and the Dragon Mid Production (6700).

How much different will this kit be from that Wittman Tiger? Probably a question for David Byrden.

That's a good selection; only two of those kits are very similar to each other.
But this "Tunisian" will be different again. These are the parts of 6608 that were not in 6730;

Plus, of course, the paint will make it look very different.

Well, the "Aftermarket Boys" have CERTAINLY got all bases covered to build ANY Tiger I ANY way you may want to exert your energies and your financial resources upon, down to individual tanks. Not THIS boy, I can assure you...
