Hello everyone!
So I am planning to build the Tamiya M51 Super Sherman. I don't really like the pose of the crew supplied in the kit and was looking around for something a bit different. I came across the Verlinden crew, ammo, and storage set but was was surprised to see the crew wearing completely different helmets than the kit crew. The Verlinden crew looks to be wearing American Vietnam style helmets. I searched some more and found IDF AFV crew figures wearing Soviet style helmets! So I am a bit confused about what type of figures I should be looking for. I wanted to do my m51 as one of the 6 Days War Sinai long range tanks with all the extra gear and jerry cans etc but that is not set in stone. My research is just beginning on this project. I am also wondering if it was standard for part of the crew to wear a comms helmet as the box crew portrays or would they all be wearing the same helmet? Also would an M51 from the 6 Days War be painted the same basic light sand color as one that fought in the Yom Kippur War in 73? I didn't realize how much variability there was in IDF armor between years until I started this project! Any recomendations on a crew set or other resources to help research IDF armor in the 60s-70s would be great! Thank you all!
