Hi everyone,
I remember seeing an article on finishing spent shell casings and I cant remember who the article was by. It had several methods for finishing them but one of the methods involved dipping the brass casings into a wash (AK interactive wash maybe?) or burnishing/blackening fluid and described a number of other methods involving paint.
I cant remember where I saw the article and I was hoping someone here remembers or can point me in the right direction?

'Not sure if I can help re plastic shell cases but if you're using after market real brass cases then I gently roughen the top part of the case with a fine emery paper then add black pigments on to the roughened surface. This seems to work quite well and I've used it on a Charioteer dio utilising AFV Club 20 pounder cases.
The natural tarnishing effect of the brass plus the black pigment seems to give that just fired look.
I imagine using the same method albeit on a painted metallic surface to replicate steel cases would still work.

If you're using actual brass casings (as opposed to painted styrene/resin), then burnishing them with hear works well. Just hold in a naked flame for a few seconds.

keep in mind for warsaw pact, cases are typically lacqured steel and grey in color, Chinese are typically copper washed so the cases have almost a pink tinge to them.
