AFV Club makes the M-35A1 and A2 kits. These are 2 1/2 ton trucks that you can build out of the box. We had both of the versions in Nam. As supply and troop transports. The Revell MOde kit M-34/Jeep kit is another kit of the Engineers 2 1/2 ton truck that was used in the early years 1964 to 1968. There are many options to build from these three kits.

I have the Revell kit "jeep & M34 tactical truck" The truck itself is very nice except for the way they handled the doors so they can be "movable" ... the jeep is too simple and not fitting too well but for the kits price i think it pays up (it was under 10 Euro's here)

The M-35A2 looks a bit modern in the kits I've seen, are there any details to keep out to set it back to the Vietnam era, or would it just need an OD paint job?

The A2 's that I have seen did not have the cover over the exhaust. They had the newer tailights and front turn signal though. The only other version was the A2 with drop side cargo bed. They were painted OD Green of the time period. The Mafia Gun Truck was an A 2 model.

The first truck to the left is the Mafia. It had the A2 side cab exhaust. The King of the Roads is also an A2 model

If you don,t want an M35 with a stack on, you can use the Gun Truck kit. It has all the parts to make a cargo truck and the exhaust comes out the side like the early ones. it also has early tail lights and other small details. Then you have a real nice quad 50 for a future project.

The AfV Club kit ia a very good kit. I would not hesitate buying or building this kit. I have built or used this kit in over 50 different projects. Although there are a few minor problems in accuracies in the kit I would not hessitate as I said. Gunnie did an article a while back or doing some corrections to the kit to make it even more authentic. http://www.guntruck.com/ Go to his article on the Nancy build. I think you will see that you can build a good example of the truck.
