Hi guys,
I took a brief burnout break in order to work on another build. In the meantime, I bounced back-and-forth to finish and attach the fender rack ... whew!!! The assembly is kind of a glue-fest right now. Some putty and sanding to follow, then this barge will be ready for the spray-booth.

Still trying to sack up for all the putty work that needs to be done on the figures! 😝

Thanks for having a look!🍺

Here’s a small figure update … under-cutting, putty, sculpting, filing, sanding … not necessarily in that order!
In addition, I finally got around to waking the sleeping beast (the Airbrush Monster)! 😴 That’s one small step for figure painting, one giant leap for moi! 🙃 Lol!

The Four Amigos sporting their new coat of Vallejo Grey Primer (73.601)

Ye gads! ... Primer and photos have a way of bringing out those huge mistakes! 👓 ... Back to the Horch for my glue fix! 😜

Cheers!🍺

Hi all!
I’m back from the glue-fest with another installment.

The Bronco kit includes several top and window options … top up, top folded down; windshield up, windshield down, windshield down and covered; side windows removed, side windows affixed. Although extremely nice, both the canvas covered windshield and folded-down top seem mirrored in appearance. In order to closer resemble my reference photo (see page 1); I doctored things up a bit. Here is a rough putty slap-on I did in order to breakup some of the symmetry.

Before.

After.

*Side-note: For this build, I've been using Apoxie Sculpt and Tamiya White Putty for filler here and there. However I must admit, the best putty I’ve found for sculpting thus far has to be a 50/50 Green Stuff/Milliput concoction. However, the Apoxie Sculpt tubs are so much more convenient for scooping out small amounts and closing up for storage.

After my graceful handling of the many very delicate parts (yeah right! 🤕), the subassemblies have been washed and set aside to dry.🚿 ... Squeaky clean! 😅

A closer look at the undercarriage before paint happens.

And now for my paint fix, I cranked-up my trusty ‘Grex Tritium TG’ — going well so far!🎨

And here's a final look before engine bye-bye! Vallejo German Panzer Grey Primer (73.603)

Next, I managed to scrounge-up a circle template from my old drafting days. This is my first time using the wheel-mask method and I found it to be a huge timesaver!

The entire wheel assembly was sprayed first with Vallejo Dark Rubber (70.306), then the wheels were masked and sprayed with Vallejo Desert Yellow (70.977).

Overspray touchup ... done, and done!

*Side-note: When airbrushing Vallejo Acrylics, I thin them with Vallejo Airbrush Thinner (71.161) along with a drop-or-so of Liquitex Airbrush Medium. I make on-the-fly air pressure adjustments with a ’Grex G-Mac Micro Air Control Valve’ (approx. 15–20 psi). ... Airbrushing frustrations, bye-bye!

Until the next time ... HAPPY FESTIVUS!!! 🍻🥂

As mentioned earlier, body-to-chassis alignment issues have haunted me throughout — my fault, not Bronco's. The problem: In order to begin work on the figure modifications, I needed to jump several assembly steps causing a slight twisting misalignment. Hmmm 🤔 …

Extreme de-wonking! 🗜🗜

Cheers!🍺

Nice progress Mike,

Having similar probs myself – Masterbox’s Type 170 staff car, you can still just make it out inside a sphere of epoxy glue. Diabolical. Your 4 amigos look like they’re practicing a “Stop! in the name of love” routine while they’re waiting to board the barge.

Happy new year, Tim

Awesome! You’re actually doing the first car-pool karaoke dio - had me completely fooled with those Afrika Korp disguises.

Now that’s what I call taking the ball and running with it. Brilliant idea – could become a whole new forum. I’ll see what I can come up with over the next few days & post to the link rather than divert this thread any more than I’ve tried to several times! (Sorry, didn’t intend to but couldn’t resist sometimes) Reckon we’ve all got plenty of Springtime for Hitler auditioners…Nick’s might have some MJ/BAD or Britney/Toxic dancers…Jerry…??

But just to make you really puke my priority right now is to escape the 35C/90%humidity here (it’s high summer) and go catch some cool Pacific waves. And then some shrimps on the Barbie. Hard life.

All the best for ‘17

Tim

Hi Tim, It's 35F here on my side of the planet. And decent seafood is impossible to find around these parts ... guess I'll go catch me a cow!🐮 Have fun at the beach!

Just a small update today. I've added a little extra detail to the folded-down top. Always a good time threading springy brass straps!
PE is from ABER (35 A21) Buckles and Straps set.

Happy 2017 at ya!🍺

Thanks Mike & HNY to you too,

Nice strapwork there, looks just right. As for the weather you’ll have your revenge in 6 months time – in fact had to beat a hasty retreat from the surf the other day due to bluebottles (aka Pacific or Portuguese Men o’ war) drifting in to shore. Got stung a few years back, never again – local pain like having a tooth drilled without anaesthetic…or building Masterbox’s Type 170!

Started trawling for images for your new thread – looking for figures that resemble Devo (if you recall their biggest hit, seems most apt) but who ever wore red helmets?
Cheers,
Tim

Tim, Ouch! I don't like being stung! I'll be ducking hornets again come springtime! 😝

Here's the latest. All buttoned-up — happy to say the alignment held. Moving along; the left and right storage boxes have been added to the body. At this stage, it’s hard to even breathe without knocking parts off.

Time to break out the “Drunkelgelb!” Vallejo Desert Yellow (70.977).

BTW: I replaced the supplied PE tow pintle chain with LZ Models (35601) Precision Very Fine Chain.

Thanks for having a look!

Cheers!🍺

Hi Mike,

That looks like the perfect colour er color …especially after a few tequilas. I’m sure they were all there the other day but some of your pix seem to have gone awol today? Strange, after refreshing another one came back so now only the last two are still missing. Maybe it’s my interweb.

"Strange Things Are Afoot at the Circle K"...

I've been getting the same thing here — images randomly disappearing — reappearing — or not. Probably another 'PeeBucket' issue! Or could it be that Putin is hacking me out of boredom? Lol! ... Wait, that's not even funny! 🤔

... Ohhh yeah, their definitely screwin' around at PeeBucket again! I was just over there checking it out!

Ah Bill & Ted, priceless. Hey, you got all your pix back again- I never have these issues at Village Photos so why not make the change?…but who really buys the old “site maintenance” story anyway, especially when a highly informed authority says there’s no way it was the Russkies hacking your photo account either, no, the enemy’s within! Clearly those shady characters over at Missink Links are responsible & we’re gonna drain their swa…er site come Jan 20.

Wow! 10,001 views for a thread that started out as a dumb question! I guess I'll bore you guys with another update.

Here's the Horch with wheels and painted tarps temporarily attached for fit inspection and photo-op.

Color breakdown for tarps and straps — Vallejo Acrylics.
Tarps: German Camo Beige (70.821)
Straps: Red Leather (70.818)
Buckles: Natural Steel (70.864)
Braces: New Wood (70.311)
Metal braces: Back (71.057) and Natural Steel (70.864) dry-brush.

I’m hoping the straps may add a little animation to the overall scene. Kinda' glad I did that!

As always, I appreciate the comments.

Cheers!

💤 ⏰!!!    Sorry guys, I got momentarily winched into the Half-Track Campaign — actually a diversionary tactic used to avoid work on the Four Amigos! And after attending GAASUNDD (Ginsu Academy of Armor Slice-und-Dice), I’m back to this production.

Roll film! … And, action! 📣 ..... . . .   “Cut!!!” … “Their shorts are too tight!” … “Somebody call Wardrobe! … Mach schnell!”

Before and after ‘Ginsu’ treatment to the shorts on two of the Amigos.🔪

Thanks for having a look!🍺

Great amigos/supremes Mike, I particularly like their game-faces...although I think the passenger’s gesturing to call “Cut” again and ask why he’s still got the concrete lederhosen. He seems to have had some kind of personal accident too, maybe it’s a protest..? Also like the drunkelgelb, I’m no expert but looks exactly right for dessert er desert ops - did you customize that in the end or was it straight from a/the bottle?

Thanks Tim!

I noticed the pant-load issue when I originally opened the box and went to work on these guys. Kind of surprising, since these MiniArt figures have pretty good detail otherwise. I said to myself... 🤔 Self... no one will ever notice. Later in the game, it was just too obvious and it became impossible to leave well enough alone. Three more Spandex to Board Short converts to go.

My version of Drunkelgelb is Vallejo Desert Yellow (70.977) served-up neat. A desert dusting will follow later when I meld everything together on the base.

Chill-a-hoo-hoo!🍺

Hi guys, The F***kbucket Virus (calling it what it is!) hit me really hard, so I've been preoccupied with damage control — repairing/pointing my severed links to an alternative image hosting site.

Please stay tuned ...
