Hi all
Postie just arrived with my DML Tiger 131 kit from HLJ & I couldn't resist in getting the box open. I'm a little confused with the colour callout for sPzAbt 504 Tunisia though. From what I have found 504 deployed to Tunisia in 43 which should make their Tiger colours RAL 8020 with RAL 7027 yet Dragons instructions say 8000/7008. To compound matters, Armorsite list 504's Tigers as being 8020 with the earlier 7008 disruptive.
Anyone with some more definitive info on this?

TIA

Historians found 8000/7008 on the actual Tiger in the museum. In addition to that, all of the photos of Tigers made up to that time, and painted for tropical areas, show a relatively dark low-contrast scheme. RAL 8020 was a bright colour and had a distinct contrast with RAL 7027.
It's the old story; don't believe the official German orders until you see what the actual tanks are like.

Awesome!

Thank you David.
I knew you had consulted on the background to this model & whilst I didn't doubt the colour call-out, I was confused given the orders that were supposed to be in place at the time.

AGREED! Lest we forget, the Germans were in the hurt locker in Africa (as well as the eastern front) by winter of '41 to the end of the war when it came to supply. There was A LOT of improvisation in the field as far as "correct" camouflage schemes were concerned. That goes for Italy/France/Belgium/Germany from summer of 1943 on, as well...

Ah, but this isn't a field improvisation. The Tigers came from the factory in RAL 8000/7008, and I don't see any evidence of an overall repaint after that.

What I do see is the use of RAL 8020 for some equipment that was added later, and for repairs, like on Tiger 112 here;
