Ok, I have hit total frustration with my Iwata Neo. I have split a third tip on it. I have a Grex and Eclipse, but use my Neo for general painting and primer, and have replaced the tip three times. I think it is time to trash it. While it does a great job the tip constantly seems to split on it, not sure if it is weak metal or what?
Ok, venting done.

I have a NEO and have had no issues with the needle or tip outside of my mishandling of it while cleaning!! My clumsiness damaged the needle and I had to replace it. Otherwise, I like it and it works well for me.

Hi, no issues with my Trn1. I like it a lot.
Maybe you push to hard the needle?
Regards Álvaro

I have a Neo in my airbrush armory same problem only once.I'm not sure how I have never had it happen again ; yet ; except making sure the needle is lubed up. Only things I don't like about the Neo are the price for needles and tips and imho my Badger Patriot is easier to clean so I use it more.

I had thought that, but why have I not had any issue with the other two. I push the needle in till is just touches, I don't force it. One thing I thought of it that the Neo is the only airbrush I clean with Windex, due to using it to apply Future.

Thank you for the heads up as I was just cleaning Future out of my Neo with Windex this morning. I do always follow the Windex afterwards with alcohol as I was concerned about ammonia attacking the chrome.
So far no issues after a year. Personally I think it is easy to clean. Best of luck.

There is a remote chance that the problem is in the needle. Is it still in perfect shape? Is it defective from the factory? And I guess I'll ask it, is it possible you placed a needle from a different iwata AB?

The second time the tip split, I bought a new needle as well. From my understanding, the Iwata Neo are made under license by a company in China to be able to market as a cheaper airbrush, could just be cheaper parts. I am back to using my Eclipse as my everyday, will see how that goes.

Hi I use our windex brand and alcohol too.
Maybe are cheap material, but as Iwata put her name on it I think that some control are done.
If I don't recall wrong Don's page about reviews have some pics of troubles with the Neo.

To do a complete clean I take it apart and use an ultra sonic cleaner (not including the air valve ) with a mix of windex and hot water after the wipe down I re assemble and lubricate the needle and all threads.I have a Neo in my airbrush armory same problem only once.I'm not sure how I have never had it happen again ; yet ; except making sure the needle is lubed up. Hi, today I check the tip and found that the needle are offset to one side, maybe expensive ones have some autocentering ?
After some roll I try to put it at the middle.
So, after cleaning you must to check it too....
Regards from the south.
BTW, I use an ultrasonic too, which its the best or correct lube?

I know you may not be looking for a new airbrush but the Iwata HP CS is an absolutely fantastic airbrush. I have had one for years and never had to replace a single thing on it.
You can find them on ebay for a steal and some websites offer "classroom" airbrushes for a great price as well.

I've been using my Neo as my main brush for at least the last year with no problems, other than having a hard time cleaning the nozzle. I've only sprayed acrylics through it though, so maybe that has helped.
