Hi. Not quite sure where this should be posted, but since it mainly deals with armor storage, I decided to put it here.

While over to the local home improvement store this morning, looking at some shelving the wife wants to put in a closet, I happened to see something that may work for what most modelers, of armor at least, seem to have a problem with: ' What the H--- to do with them once they're finished.'

I saw a shoe storage unit made out of a cavas material. Now it's just one row high, but it has 8 or 9 openings to it. Each 'box' of this unit is 12 inched deep, 5 inches wide, and it looked to be 6 or 7 inches, or maybe 7 1/2 inches tall. (The one on display was hanging way up on the rack so it was impossible to check how high each opening was, and it didn't say on the package's advertisement either.) But I was thinking that if a person would build a little thin cardboard 'box' inside of each one of these openings--to act as a reinforcement--that this could hold at least one vehicle, or maybe two, being 12 inches deep.

Anyway, this is just a thought I was having and figured I would pass it along to see if anybody else has run across this idea before, and if so, whether it worked or not. I fgure they could be put back in any closet away from cleaning hands, snooping pets, etc.

These single stack canvas units were under $10 a piece. They also had one that was several units wide, but they were much shorter, per opening, than the single stack unit. Maybe 5 inches tall. Which would be okay, except for the aerial thing.

Take care, Sgirty

My fear would be one spill kills all. I've knocked to many things off hangers. Hell, even my wooden shelves have gone down on me, luckily not destroying models

Canvas? That doesn't sound too sturdy to me -- I'd worry about a bump to the side messing up the contents.

I've picked up a few of those clear plastic storage boxes and they work well for me. They stack, they come in different sizes (including some deep enough to not interfere with antennas), and they are clear, so I can see what's inside. They also keep the dust off pretty well. I also like to use them for transporting models to contests.

Hi. Points well taken here. I see what both posters mean. Yes, Hollowpoint, the clear plastic storage boxes would be a much better idea. Sturdier, stronger, and a person can buy then just about any size, depth, width a person needs. And they can bee stacked as well, just about anyplace. Points well taken. I had an idea it would be a good thing to put this suggestion down here and see what others thought of it before jumping into it.

Thanks for the responses and take care, Sgirty
