This is my first time painting or making a non-WW2 tank, and I have painted the Merkava 3 model using Mig's Sinai '82 acrylic paint via a brush. I use brushes and don't have an airbrush. I am used to using umber oil washes for pin washes on my german WW2 tanks. I am afraid of my Merkava getting too dark after washes are applied, but I want to apply a wash to make the anti-skid texture pop, and also want to apply pin washes to all the great detail on the kit. Does anyone have suggestions for colors to try for filters and washes on top of this Sinai Grey paint color? I have been testing a few things on a test model, but I am not happy with them..I am not great at knowing what colors to use as filters and washes over other colors.. thanks,

I use watered down Vallejo or Tamiya Buff. I apply it in layers until I get the desired effect.
I also apply it thicker and use water to thin it on the model itself. It took me several models to get the application correct, so you may want to try it on an old model.
Paul.

I did this for the IDF campaign and copied alot of pictures of Merks in action. They looked pretty dirty and dusty.

I used Humbrol dust wash (very good) and other pigments thinned with white spirit. Sand, black, earth and rubble dust.
I gave it an oil dot weathering 1st. White, sap green and yellow ochre.
Cheers Pete
