Rye Field Models have released news of their Tiger I early with full interior detail. Will this consign the Academy offerings to history?

Hi
It looks like a great model and along with their first release a very promising start for a new model manufacturer.
The first release was excellent, with any inaccuracies in context being relative minor and for any competent modeller, easily fixed. Indeed some would be irrelevant if you regularly purchased PE as part of your model building habits.
This kit, with it's included interior and the continued use of individual track links will no doubt please many modellers. Of course there has never been produced, and I doubt there ever will be, a 100% accurate model kit but this one certainly looks to offer a comprehensive effort to provide most of the interior parts required to make a very detailed kit.
No doubt there are those overly obsessive people for whom every single nut, bolt, cable, must be exactly in place, but for most I'm sure this kit will satisfy their needs and modelling enjoyment and on balance represent excellent value for money if the prices already quoted, or less from online discounters, are shown to be correct.

This is the exact point where this thread takes a turn for the worse, like so many previous threads about new releases. You've seen this happen before.
But let me draw your attention to *how* it happens.
At this exact point, the poster stops talking about the kit, and starts talking about other people. They are "overly obsessive" - or, at least, he tells us that they are.
Their opinions are therefore not valid. He defends the kit by attacking other people, not by focusing on the kit itself, which is the purpose of this forum.
Watch out for this tactic.

AArrrggghhhh ! Will the torture never stop ? First I read about Takom's 2 new releases, now this kit. These 3 new releases coupled with Dragon's new Tigers makes me one happy camper ! My wallet, a little sad. A BIG thank you to all the manufacturers who make this an exciting time to be a scale modeler !
Have a good weekend all !

True enough; although, Dragon could have foreseen that an interior for the Tiger kits would have been a game changer based on the popularity of AM resin sets. If you snooze.....

I'd like to see FFM release an interior only set. Based on the comparison review here, I am reluctant to buy their tiger kits, PROVIDED Dragon actually releases the 501 kit. Too many inaccuracies, little nagging fit problems, flash marks etc.
I bought the CMK three part interior, but resin is not as easy to work with. However, given that the engine and other parts are in half, I'd imagine one would be advised to do a compilation of RFM and CMK parts. Of course, all of this is subject to what happens when BYRDEN gets a hold of it and tells us how accurate or inaccurate it is.

How accurate does accurate have to be, in order to have an accurate model of and accurate Tiger 1...? ;-)

Funny you should ask. I just asked a 1/35 Michael Wittmann figure who happened to be on my workbench for his input. Accurately molded Reval cigarette butts and accurate scale thickness PE moisture condensation would do it for him. Oh, and using real steel, instead of styrene which requires the modeler to recreate accurate scale weld joints, would go a long way toward achieving accurate accuracy we all look for in an accurate model of an accurate Tiger I. Yes. What was your question again?

That's right! Bandai released a Tiger l with interior (1/48) in early '70's. But seriously, who else released a Tiger l in 1/35 with interior besides Academy, which, I am sure, you will agree is not as good as either Dragon or RyeField?
