Hiya,
The front of my (AFV Club#AF3508) M88A1 I'm doing right now has some markings (between the two headlights(?)) and on the right hand side (between the access door and some hatch (no idea what that's for) and it says:"ROG 11671556"
Does anybody (I'm looking at Sabot) know what it's for and if I should let it there or sand it off?
Thanks!

They're casting marks from Rogers Olympic Corp. Leave them there.

Actually United Defense Industries (UDI) builds the M88s. I visited their factories last year. Amazing to watch the huge, naked hull pieces being welded together. ROC casts the hull pieces and ships them to the UDI factory in York, PA.

Just about everything that is cast, ie, made by pouring molten metal into some type of mold, has a part number cast on it somewhere. Below is a picture of a casting I had lying on my desk. The "R092011" is the customer part number, the "323B" is our in-house cast date (so if there is a problem we will know when we made the parts) and the "A" in the triangle is our foundry trademark.
Rob, Look for the "A" in a triangle on oil pumps on M113 engines. My brother said he remembers seeing castings we made here at the foundry on those engines.

Hope this isn't too

Shaun
