Building one now.Did the Russians really mount a small fuel tank on top of the muffler exhaust?As kit instructions indicate.Seems kind of dumb to put a tank there.

It was an oil tank, not a fuel tank.

In addition to Jacques' explanation, there was a metal protection acting as a spacer between the tank itself and the exhaust.
I recently posted a T-62 walkaround on my site where you can see the metal protection aforementioned and the space created.

Thanks I did not know it was an oil tank.
