i was looking to build a 1/48th scale winter scene and i was wondering if anyone knows of any good products that can simulate snow in that scale?

I'd use Woodland Scenics Flake snow. I often but it in a coffee grinder to make the flakes even smaller.

If you want to make deep snow covering a large area, there is a mixture of water, white glue, and baking soda. Proportions are uncertain so some experimentation is necessary. Mix it into a paste and apply to the base. The mix will expand slightly and become puffy. Will look like deep fresh snow.

Not really very deep here, but gives you an idea what it looks like.

Marble dust.
If I can find all my marbles (I think I lost some!) I'll dust them off and see if it works!

I use white Corian. Use a sanding block to get what I need. Use clear matt varnish and a brush to build it up on a vehicle and clear acrylic sprayed from my airbrush to wet the vehicle and use a makeup brush loaded with the dust and tapped over model on to the still wet clear. Comes out pretty good.

I read something a couple of years ago on this site about a guy using paraffin? wax for thick and/or broken ice. It was a good idea and looked very realistic. Does anyone else recall that post?

Hudson and Allen make snow which is micro ballons. Sprinkle over a clear water base glue. It has that shinny snow look to it. I build up hight with foam board and some plaster on that, then add the snow to it. Works very well and the micro balloons are so small you can't see them as idividual parts, just snow.
