MSN chat is still "active". However I have removed the links to it on the sidebar and on the MSN site itself. If you have a direct link it will still work (chat.msnw).
I am having a hard time justifying sending users to MSN to "chat" about modeling. When in reality that is what our own forum is for. That coupled with the almost weekly blow-ups we tend to have in the chat area prove to me that some members (a small minority) cannot use this area like adults (probably because some of them really are kids ... sorry AW I am not talking about you). So...chat is still there. But it won't be something I am going to actively hype anymore. I would encourage members to use MSN messenger over MSN chat anyways. That way you can form discussion groups with your friends and have more control over the situation, etc. without us having to worry about moderating the chat forums.
Since this will be widely read I might as well announce that MrRoo is stepping down from his moderator duties. Another sad case of a vocal minority making it difficult for an "unpaid" staff member to do his/her job. Those "in the know" on this situation should be aware that a member involved lost his account over this matter and is NOT welcome to return. I WILL NOT allow a few trouble-makers to harrass or attempt to bully members of the staff as apparently happened in this case. ZERO tolerance on this.
Thanks for reading,
Jim
