I guess it was bound to happen sometime.. maybe I'll start building WWII German again
"King Tiger, the King of Kings
In WWII, there’s a tank with thick armor and a long barrel. It’s a tank which made numerous battlefield legends and created many tank aces. It’s the king of WWII tanks, it’s the nightmare of Allied soldiers, and it’s the favorite of modellers. It is the German heavy tank Pz.Kpfw.VI Ausf.B (Sd.Kfz. 182.), the King Tiger!
MENG is working with The Tank Museum in Bovington, UK and the famous British modeller Mr. David Parker who is also the editor of Meng AFV Modeller and Meng AIR Modeller magazines to develop a brand new 1/35 scale German heavy tank King Tiger model kit. We will represent a most perfect King Tiger model kit with the numerous real vehicle measurements and pictures as well as the factory drawings and history photos.
As the King Tiger is one of the most popular subjects among military enthusiasts and modellers, MENG has chosen it as the first product of WWII subjects. Like other MENG products, this brand new King Tiger will be accurate in exteriors and details and also be enjoyable to build. What’s more, we look forward to perfecting this tank model with global modellers. If you have any suggestion or idea about the King Tiger model, please email us. Once your suggestion or idea is accepted, you will receive a MENG King Tiger model kit. We will also express our thanks to these modellers in the instruction manual. Let’s make a perfect King Tiger model kit together!

Ahh, but you're forgetting TWO distinctly different other ICONIC WWII tanks: The US M4 through M4A3E8-series Medium Tanks, AND the Soviet T-34/76 through T-34/85-series Medium Tanks, both of which had a TREMENDOUS influence on the outcome of World War II. The Tiger II was a mere drop in the bucket as far as historical impact is concerned.
To quote a German WWII POW-Tanker, speaking to a US Interrogator: "ONE of our Tigers can kill TEN of your Shermans, but you always have ELEVEN..." Thus, German Tigers... The same can be said of the T-34. US and Russian Tankers learned that in order to overwhelm German armor, it was necessary to swarm around the German tanks, and kill them from the sides and to the rear.
US Tankers also learned that shooting a "Willy-Pete" (White Phosphorous) Round into a "shot-trap" such as found at the Turret Race, located between the Bottom of the Turret and the top of the Upper Hull, could and did kill any German tank. The FURIOUSLY BURNING white phosphorous would seep into the interior of the tank, igniting anything flammable inside, including Crew Members. If the Willy-Pete ignited fuel or ammo, the whole shebang cooked. End of story...
My Uncle Ludwig was a WWII German Tanker (Pz.Kpfw.IV- He was a Loader) and he related to me that the only things that his fellow German Tankers really feared were Allied Fighter Bombers and being hit with WHITE PHOSPHOROUS...
He also stated that the vaunted Tigers, both I and IIs were merely "expensive junk, entirely un-dependable"... Oh well...
