I've been building models for the last couple of years, and every model I built was painted by hand. I want to find an alternative to hand painting, and because I don't have the money for an airbrush, I thought of using spray paint. Is tamiya spray paint good, and if there is anything I should be aware of, please tell me.
P.S. I build 1/35 armor

I use it a fair bit and you can't get better paint in a can IMO.
It's a synthetic lacquer so goes on very very thin.
It is a bit tricky to do colour modulations with them but if all you are after is a single base colour then they are great.

Tamiya spray paint is the best I have used. You can get a very nice, light coat and it sprays evenly. Warm the cans up a bit before you spray and shake well and often. For a nice, flat base coat I also like Krylon ultra flat camo paints. They serve as a nice primer coat as well, and are less expensive. I haven't had any problem doing oil washes over the Tamiya paint and the finish is very durable.

I've had a lot of experience with the Tamiya sprays, and they have been excellent. I've base-coated loads of wargaming models in 1/56 and 1/48 scale and had no issues. I often mask with Blu-tack/poster putty and get decent camouflage too.
