Hi all

I tend to sit on the side and don't post that much as I like to build rather than chat ...sorry !

I am a scratch builder ..and for my sins I build 1/16 or I try to now I am not a perfect modeller by any means bit if it looks almost right I am usually happy .

I am at the moment in the mist of building an m103a2 or close enought and I spent hours looking around for a pair to job that not just us army or marines ..green ...I like to have an actual camo pattern but can't find any pics or reference to say that the 103 appeared in any thing but ..green

Can any one help ? ..I am interested in the mad 4 colour camps used in Europe preally merdc usually two browns.. black and green psychedelic .... is there a name for that style and more important is there a standard application template or diagram of how it was painted ?
I can't find nothing at all ?

Hi. I don;t think M103A2s were ever painted in MERDC in the real, but since you don't mind 'What-if", ( I certainly don't mind, I'm going to paint mine as a what-if myself) I found a site with MERDC templates - https://sites.google.com/site/merdccamo/home/merdc-camouflage-templates

I'd guess it would be similar to the M48 pattern. I'm looking forwards to see your finished model.

The M103A2 was too early to have anything but overall green paint in operational use. So that is your only option if you want accuracy.

If not, you can paint it however you like. There are some "Gate Guard" M103s that are in MERDC, Sand, or NATO Camo.

A few options:

I want to do a USMC M103A2 but update it with smoke dischargers and maybe a cupola from a M48 or M60 and paint it in the Desert MERDC scheme. Maybe call it a M103A5.

@Gino - thanx, that looks awesome!

@Jimmy - I'm doing something like that too, except I think I'll just keep the old cupola.
