I got a bottle of this Tamiya paint retarder, but I've never used this before. Anyone know how much I'm supposed to use? Say, if I use 20 drops of paint, how many drops of retarder should I use? And can this retarder be used with "true acrylic" paints like MIG Ammo or Ak Interactive?

Hi Hisham,
I only really use this stuff for brush painting Tamiya paints, it's good stuff and makes the Tamiya paints useable with a paint brush, smelling it it does have a solvent type smell so using it with mig and vallejo paints would probably turn it to a latex gloop.
I've not tried to mix with other paints but as said above it really improves the way Tamiya paints can be brush painted. I've never had any reason to use it with a airbrush as they spray beautifully using GSI Mr Levelling Thinners.

Hi Hisham,
Only need about 10% of the total paint volume to get it to brush properly

No, Dan is just saying that, he personally, has only used it for brushing... but since he says it makes Tamiya paints work well with the brush, I'm sure it will work equally well with the airbrush.. I'm going to try it out in the next couple of days and I'll let you know.

I thin Tamiya with Mr Color Levelling Thinner which already has a little retarder built in and it works beautifully. I think for airbrushing you would only need a few drops.
