Some of you may remember my build review of the Dragon M48A3 Mod B. I never got around to finishing it. It sat on the proverbial "shelf" built, but not completed. I have decided to get the "shelf queens" done.

I added the Legend Mantlet and Search Light set to it. I also used a portion of the Legend M48A3 Vietnam Stowage Set II on it as well.

I marked it using the kit decals for "Wild One 4" from 11 ACR, 922 ENG Bn. The decals are incorrect though. They have "H-ACR" and 922 ENC". I corrected them and added a second set to the rear as well.

The crew is from PMC Miniatures; their US Army M48 Crew Set.

Here it is.

I also added interior hatch details such as the handle and lock assembly on the loader's hatch. The TC's hatch got the lock and the lever that holds it open near the hatch. For these I used left over PE bits, metal rod, plastic rod, and sheet styrene for the head pad.

A few more pics can be seen here.
Thanks for looking and as always, all comments are welcomed.

Nicely done Gino. Did the old Tamiya "high rider" many moons ago. Need to get one of these if I still can find one.

Very cool, Gino. I love the crew, the stowage, and the model makes a really nice display.

Nice work on this Gino- I always think the M48 looks fantastic with those mouth and eye decals at the front- suits the shape perfectly. The stowage on the turret adds a nice busy look to it. The figures compliment everything nicely too- I have some PMC figures myself and they are really nice sculpts. Did the mic booms on the helmets come as etch or did you scratch those? I also note the tattoo on the Commander- thats a neat touch.

Armorsmith - Thanks. It was a fun build and the break between build and finishing made it go really fast.

Jason - Thanks, glad you like it.

Anna - Glad you like it. I really like how the crew and stowage came out as well. They really go well w/the tank.

Sven - Glad to be an inspiration. Get going on yours so we can see another great looking M48 on the boards.

Karl - Thanks. I really like the crew as well. The sculpting and expressions on the faces is great. The boom mikes and comm wires out the back were scratch by me. The are not that hard to make, just a piece of thin wire, bent to shape and a piece of styrene on the end for the mic. They give the look I was going for. I too like the tattoos on the TC. His bare arms needed something.

Good work, Gino. Any plans to dust it up a bit?

Thanks Russ. It actually is quite dusty w/Vietnam red dust on it. The bright lights tend to wash it out a bit. If you look at some of the closer pics, you will see it well.

Thanks Jason. I thought the tattoo would give him some character.

Looks excellent Gino. I found by Dragon E26 Pershing in the attic assembled but not painted a few days ago, so I'll be doing a similar thing.

Looks great Heavyarty. I especially like the shark mouth and the M16 slung on the hatch.

Just one thing I picked up. The flak jackets look too green. Those M69 vests were a dark olive drab when new. Overtime, they faded to a dirty brown.

Otherwise, a great looking tank.
