Hi. While waiting for good old Mother Nature to finally get over it's winter spell here in Ohio, so I can get the rest of my parts for Tamiya's Abrams out in the garage and put a coat of primer put on them, I decided to start building some of the basic things on Academy's 1/25 scale Panther kit that I picked up over the holidays.

My what a monsterous kit it is, compared to the usual 1.35 scale stuff. Everything is so darn BIG. And very easy to get a grip on to clean up and put together. I'm just working on the suspension and road wheels and other basic pieces, hoping it won't be too awfully long before Aber or Eduards or some other outfit comes out with a 1/25 scale PE set for this 'cat'. The pieces provided by Academy are very well molded and detailed, but it still lacks screens and some of the other items that comes with the various PE sets for German armor kits to sort of 'dress it up' a tad bit.

Wouldn't it be a nice change for some of the kit makers to start bringing out some of the more common models of this period in 1/25 scale. They're so much easier to work with and can be given the detail that would be much easier to do for us older folks. Ha, ha!

What do you say Tamiya? How about re-realeasing that old 1/25 scale Tiger I that you had out back in the early 70's, with updated plastic moldings for it? Then the Sherman, Panzer III and IV, T-34, Chromwell, KV............ Lets start a new fad here.

Take care, Sgirty

The Tiger was re-released back in the early 90s. I bought one after I came back from overseas while in my advanced course (1991). And there is still sits...unbuilt.

I'll second that sgirty!

Unfortunatly people who like the 1/25 stuff are in the minority so I woulden't hold my breath. The only upshot is that it's easier to scratch build 1/25 accessories. If you look at my Jagdpanther in my gallery, you will see screens on the deck lid and added clamps on the storage boxes.
