Hi all
I grabbed one of Dragon's Late Tiger I kits yesterday (#6406) relatively cheap (well AUD50 compared to nearly AUD100 online including post). Now I'm not moaning about how much you get in the box for your coin but how does one navigate their way through this kit? Anyhoo...does anyone know which of the paint schemes offered is a late, command or final tank? Can't believe DML would omit that important piece of info, given the levels of detail they have applied across the rest of the kit

I'm not much of a Tiger experten, but I do know that David Byrden, guru of all things Tiger, posts here sometimes. Not to disparage this site, but he also hangs out on missing links ,http://missing-lynx.com/ , in the WWII Axis discussion group regularly.

Thanks Mike. I know David consulted on this kit so I'm waiting for him to chime in on this one & help me out. Have managed to chew up a huge chunk of my net data this morning tracking some info down & have cross-ref'd some individual changes against timelines, so that's a start. Keen to know at what point in '44 the line is drawn between late & final builds...

Hahaha thanks...it was more a rhetorical question than anything else.
Yeah I've got plenty of experience building not just armour models but kits in general - it was just a WOW moment when I opened the box, tis all.
Yes I'm aware of the # of paint schemes offered, but it would be helpful if those schemes directed the modeller towards a particular build variant in the box.

I am not sure what you mean. I presume you have experience building armor models and know for instance that its probably best to add wheels and tracks last.
Are you overwhelmed by Dragon instructions generally or is there something about these instructions? This vid may (or may not) be of use to you.

Command tanks have a crows nest antenna and an antenna on the turret--but I see these are not illustrated in the instructions in any of the vehicles offered. Late versus final etc is not as obvious and I'd have to look it up. It can very even by month of production. Indeed, the particular variant of a particular vehicle is usually quite daunting.
You should get Germany's Tiger Tanks D.W. to Tiger I: Design, Production & Modifications (ISBN-10: 0764310380). The MOdelers Guide to the Tiger tank has complete plans not present in this volume but its pricey on ebay.
Also, tigers in combat volumes i and ii is an essential combat history and offers a lot of pictures of different tanks in different Abteilungen
For those reading along and want the instructions of the kit the OP referred to you can find them here:

Also, perhaps it would be better to ask what a particular vehicle is that interests you, as the kit offers six different marking options.
