This image shows the front of the device and it has a number of openings covered by something shiny (glass in front of some optics ?)
The cooling fins also indicate something that either generates heat and/or needs to be kept reasonably cool.

Guess: some kind of optic (visible or invisible/infrared) counter measures.

This is missile guidance system jammer. It first appeared during the first Gulf War on the AMX 30 B2 and was then fitted on the AMX 10 RC and the VBCI.
