Hi everyone! I want to share my last completed vignette, based on this photo, taken in Anzio in 1944, on february 7th, to be more precise.
The figure is from Alpine, with a hornet replacement head. Also the hands were replaced, since the original figure had ones wearing gloves.
Except from the figure, everything is scratch built, out of plasticard, foam, carboard, pinewood strips, and grinded gypsum.
The pictures in the big poster were treated in photoshop, making a combination of a color one and the original in the picture, since i wasn't able to find a color one in internet (Note: the one available in internet is the cropped version, without the breast pockets).
A nowadays picture of the building, used as reference:
The vignette:
Hope you like it!
Cheers.
Pablo

Hi, Pablo:
It's fantastic vignette. You've really captured the photo and it's nice to see a big splash of color with the poster. How did you do the papers lying around? The look very realistic.
Cheers!

Thanks Chris! the paper sheets were printed in normal paper, then i sprayed a generous layer of matt varnish over them, then i glued them to the floor. Hope they look reallistically spattered lol

Very nice. I too like it when people recreate a scene from a photo. Wish I still had the patience to do such things.

Thanks for your concepts. In my own experience, i find easier to try to replicate a real photo, than building a generic vignette.

Love the way this stays very true to the photo and captures all the pertinent details and the general 'story' of the photo so well. Fantastic staging and attention to detail- really nice work.

BEAUTIFULLY DONE!!! My only (very small) criticism is that the GI's Boots should be Brown... Otherwise, you re-created the photo VERY NICELY!!!

Thanks for your nice concepts! i really appreciated them
@Dennis well, in the picture, you are right, it is a GI that should have brown boots. But as an artistic license, i use a figure from a US Tanker, which use black laced boots.
Thanks for your input!
