Hmmm... not sure if the Pershing ever was pulled by M983. I think the Army purchased Americanized M1001 MAN prime movers for
both Pershing 2 and Tomahawk GLCM.

I was wondering too, so I've done some quick search and found this :
The HEMTT variant used was called "Truck, Tractor, With Winch, With Crane, M983"
Looking at the boxart I'm not sure they've included the crane and the winch though...
Talking about the MAN M1001 tractors, I guess they were used by units deployed in Europe whereas the M983 was used stateside.

Modelcollect has 3D cad drawings on their FB page and the winch and crane is not shown. I asked if they will include the winch and crane.

The M983 HEMMT was used by 1/9 Field Artillery in the US and the M1001 MAN was used by the 56th Field Artillery Command in Germany. Both had an Atlas crane, a 60KW generator and removable steps. I should have photos of the MAN.
The drawings look good. When I get my hands on one I will do a thorough check. The MAN truck would have been nicer; I will have to see if I can find a proper model.

Maybe this one could be used as a starting point for a scratchbuilding project in 1/72nd scale ?

I remember being in Neu Ulm Germany where the 56th Ordnance unit was station, with their Pershing Missile Tabs on the uniforms. What an interesting time. I remember seeing some 1-87 scale MAN 1001 kits for sell.

That is the only MAN KAT 1 8x8 that I have found as well. That is the cargo version. Needs a fifth wheel, 8-ton Atlas crane and 30 KW generator.
I have lots of photos and manuals if someone wants to work this up.
The PII model is shown in launch configuration. I wonder if it can be put into travel mode: the reentry vehicle removed and mounted in the cradle and rotated and the work platform raised.

That was the 56th Field Artillery Command. The 59th Ordnance Brigade had several units that supported Pershing for the US Army and the German Air Force.

Hmmm,
Quite timely given that the TV series "Deutschland 83" is currently being shown on Brit TV!
Shame about the lack of a MAN tractor unit for those who would prefer the German-based option. If someone would tackle the conversion necessary (with the Revell MAN)and the extra details, I for one, would be very grateful (being a not particularly skilled converter).
I wonder if ModelCollect would consider a GLCM or say, SS 20 perhaps? Whilst I prefer 1:35 these missiles would make for an interesting little collection.
Perchance to dream - again!

The launcher is in tactical mode with the jacks and the work platform down. The prime mover cannot be attached like that. It would be disconnected and pulled up 10 feet or so with the steps attached to the rear side so the generator can be accessed.

ARSENAL M has a M1013 MAN-KatII tractor for sale in 1/72. The model is a Resin kit. There are also the Recovery unit for sale too, along with the Pershing rocket/launcher, the Patriot launcher, the M860A1 Patriot Radar Station.

According to my knowledge (and their homepage), Arsenal M only offers 1:87 scale models.

I see ModelCollect now has this for preorder. I had a good chat with one of their folks online, then sent a complete review. I don't see they made any changes though.
For anyone interested:

Includes details on the paint scheme.

In general, how are Model Collect kits regarding fit and detail?

I built one of their very first kits (The TOS-1A).. and the parts fit was very good.. and the detail was quite crisp for this small scale, so I can only expect their later kits to be better... I can't speak to accuracy, though.

Looking at the wheels, it appears Model Collect includes wheels with deep hubs instead of the more shallower hubs for the M998.

Just saw on the Aoshima homepage, the Model Collect HEMTT with the Aoshima Pac 3 Patriot launcher with a suppose release date of July. The pictures look good, their is also a PE set for the Launcher from Tetra Model Works. I will be ordering this kit.

Better to have, if you can't have the Trumpeter, Dragon, or the AFV version. Space make a difference.
