I'm building the Tamiya 2A6 staight from the box with an aluminum barrel, painting it Nato Green all over (burned out on 3 color nato) and making it a new tank for the Munster Armor School. My question is what is the 2 armor pieces on the front corner of the turret for, I know they swing out but why?

They swing out in order to facilitate removal of engine deck cover. The turret have to be rotated 180 degree parallel to the hull. The side front armour swings out to removed engine deck cover.
