What an unusual marketing approach, nice video! The tank is very beautiful, but that digital camouflage.

It is interesting that Panda is also including the loud speaker that was mounted at the back of the turret for parade purposes. The speaker is the long-ish rectangular box.

Tony, must be to play that Russian music during a chinese parade?
Mike, the three HB versions are of the same basic vehicle. The new Panda kit is of a new version.

This version of the ZTZ-99 has a lot of differences from the versions previously kitted by Hobby Boss and Bronco, even if it looks superficially similar. The more I look at it, the more I wonder if it isn't an entirely new tank.

Hi;
Yes I Know about this kit, and we talked about the vehicle at some length A While ago when China had there Parade last year. And it looks more like A ZTZ-96 than a 99.
CHEERS; MIKE.

I've studied the parade pictures at length and compared to the earlier vehicles represented by Bronco and Hobby Boss.
I am inclined to believe it is basically a new vehicle.
So no wonder the Chinese media refers to the vehicle as Type 99 "Da Gai" Da Gai roughly translates to "big change" or "big improvement". It is the two Han characters after the 99 on the screen title in the Panda video.

Agreed, on both counts. I'd like to tackle the kit, but I'll wait until someone offers a quality masking set. No way am I going to attempt to mask that one myself!

Thanks for that info Mike. I'll do a search...
I wonder if Panda is considering the inclusion of a mask set in the kit itself? That would be a nice touch.

They also use standard 3 tones camo in some combat unit. Dont worry about that. Digi version is not your only choice for sure.
