I will be starting on building a Shilka interior, soon and have a question. I will be doing an interior for both the Hong and Meng releases. Are there any major differences, between the two? I would like to have a universal base to work off of if possible.

Hi Matt,
I don't think anyone has seen the Meng kit as of yet.

Let me broaden the scope of the question. Are there any major differences throughout the Shilka's lifespan?

Quick answer: Yes, there were major differences from the first mass-produced version to the last. Big changes inside include going from vacuum tubes to digital. Etc...

I have Zolaga's book on the Shilka, with schematics. But, it does not list which variant it is referring to.

What scratchbuilding have you done prior? Care to share pics?

Cheers,

Well that's just rude. Most people love to share their scratch building techniques and learn from others who do as well.

Oh well!

I don't intend to be rude. However, I do not wish this topic to get side tracked. I am in Arkansas and don't have access to anything I have scratch built, as it is in Florida.

If it's the old Concord book you're referring to, it looks like a V1

Have a look here for more details of the different varients , issues 111 and 112 http://publ.lib.ru/ARCHIVES/M/''M-Hobbi''/_''M-Hobbi''.html I'd love to see these articles translated as it looks like they have lots of good info.

Thank you for the info and link. I can certainly use both. I will only be building the turret interior that can be seen and am working on the plans to build from. This is, of course, so long as the driver's compartment is included in the kit. Even so, I may try to upgrade it.

A HONG empty inside . The MENG may not be the one driver is included in the interior . But the work is worth only MENG . A HONG not good. February issued this month , the tower bottom is not visible things do not exist, and a top brace to be removed from the chassis to fit all . The V1 and M is basically the armor and the commander 's desk , apparently differs from its dome.

I appreciate this. For some reason, I was under the impression that the Hong kit included the driver's compartment. I am beginning to regret paying $67 for the pre-order.
