In the East German Autobahn thread, there was a picture of a highway road sign. Not a wartime sign but a more modern large sign seen on regular peacetime highways.

I'd like to replicate one, but have no idea how to size it properly, or make a decal with the correct colors and lettering. Too big of a project?

It's actually quite easy using white decal paper, a printer and Microsoft Word/Paint. Design the sign using Word and then ctrl + printscreen. Paste into Paint and use the dotted box to outline your sign. Cut and paste into a new paint document. Paste a few and resize as you go. You'll end up having to print a whole A4 sheet anyway so just roughly guess size. Once you print allow to dry for a few hours, then seal with matt solvent based varnish. Cut out the best fit and apply as normal. Very easy.

Hi Tom,
I found this link:

http://www.dvr.de/multimedia/downloads/verkehrszeichen.htm

were you can download traffic signs. Only Problem that these are signs from West Germany.
I try to find the size of Autobahn signs so that you can replicate East German city names.

Here you can find the actuall sizes in Millimeters of again West German signs.

I think the size of the signs were the same in East and West Germany
