Quoted Text

because it has an Israel Aircraft Industry placard on it.

I think you guys are continually missing a huge clue that Hans-Hermann posted ready.

FYI...Israel Aircraft/Aerospace Industries was founded in 1953.

So perhaps focus on 1950s+ with an Israeli twist.

Just throwing it out there...

I think it's a tank gunner's seat of some type, maybe M50 ?

a) It's Israeli
b) It's post 1953
c) It's built like a brick outhouse, and reasonably tall so unlikely to be aircraft mounted
d) it's a self contained mount for a .50 cal
e) it seems to have a sturdy platform in front of the operator for, maybe, an electronic sight of some sort.
f) it has something relatively large and cylindrical mounted directly under the operator's seat, possibly a motor or a spring compensator or a gyro compensator. Nothing else seems to be powered so I'm guessing a compensator of some sort.
g) it doesn't seem to have quite the massive build of naval light gun mounts, though it could be for something like a Pibber.
h) there is a ring around the base that seems to be well suited for traversing the mount by foot.
I) the thing seems to be sitting on a plate that isn't large enough to support it on it's own so it looks to be part of a larger mounting or needs to be mounted to some larger thing.

I'd guess an AA gun mount for a vehicle or static location, possibly the back of an armoured car or truck or permanently emplaced to protect an airfield or the like.

That's my guess, anyway.

Probably totally wrong, of course.

I agree 100% with Pauls analysis above but I haven't got the slightest clue about what it might be. Even if it is 'Made in Israel' it could still have served in some other country ...

Given the analysis, I'd venture to say its an Isreali-made modification for a vehicle from another nation.

For my far-out guess, I'm going with some sort of gunnery training device.

Any German speakers able to make out the hand written label?

The first part of the German label basically says the item is for sale, and is a machine gun carriage (which we all knew). I can't quite make out the last two lines, but my guess is it probably something like, "ask for details".

Shell is right. The paper reads:
For sale. Isreali machine gun mount. Ask for information and price. BTW the price is 500 Euros. I gave the hint with Israel in the hope that some of the IDF experts here can help out.
