The Gren. Guards would be the red '52', and would follow the standard tactical markings.

Hi Eugene, not sure about a reference book, but I have a nice decal set for the Guards made by Ultracast # D35005 I purchased a while back. The formation sign is a yellow maple leaf on a green backround. The other one is 52 on a split green and blue backround. If you do look for this set, try www.airconnection.com. They are here in Canada, and give great service. Not sure if any of this helps my friend but best of luck. I will look thru my references when I get time and see if I have any more specific info. Best regards....Dale

Thank you Dale, I am referring to hull and or Turret Nubers I saw once. There was a Command tank that was I think Z3 and another that was A14 or 41 or 1A I cant find the pic for the life of me though. I have seen a Sherbrooke fusilier Sherman also with this and I think it was 14 on turret back.

Unfortunately, the Ultracast Arm of Service markings showing a split blue/green background for an armoured regiment in an armoured brigade are in error so don't use them.
Cheers,

ULTRACAST IS however, a great source for resin bits and pieces, kits and figures, for anyone interested in Canadian, British, Commonwealth and ANZAC subjects, as is RESICAST...

Can't help with your particular vehicle but here's what the turret numbers look like: HTH

Unfortunately, what the numbers looked like in one regiment is not necessarily what they looked like in another regiment, plus they also changed sometimes when the tanks were changed from Rams to Shermans and given that the Rams were used in training and the Shermans were in combat. The colours chosen may have also changed because they no longer worked with the Sherman's OD paint. The Rams were brown.
You really need a photo of a Sherman of the Grenadier Guards with the numbers to get the shapes right and take a guess at the colours.

On Reel 12727 at image 628 of the Canadian Grenadier Guards War Diary , there is a breakdown of WD numbers at embarkation. Only one Firefly number (T228651 C-44), but most Sherman WD numbers and many Stuarts, Humbers, ARVs and halftracks.
It also shows most squadron numbers.
It was a waterproofing report.
If you want a better-than-average chance of getting a ‘good’ WD number for your CGG project, this is the place.
