Hi guys,
I have in my stash a Dragon MLRS that was intended to be converted into a M4 C2V.
Now that there will be a complete plastic model(Merit/Trumpeter ) of the M4 C2V I want to convert that old MLRS into something else.
Anyone with any ideas ?
I could leave the launcherbox of to make a M993 Universal Carrier.
TIA !!

Hi John,
Thanks for your fast answer, but i was thinking about something from the US army.
I know that they have experimented with radars, cranes or missiles in the back.

For the US Army, you are out of luck unless you want a one-off, experimental vehicle. No other M993-based vehicles have been fielded.
The British RRV is the only other M993-based vehicle that I know of that has been fielded.

Christophe:
Yes, I know, that's why I want to convert the old Dragon MLRS into some experimental.
Gino:
Yes, I know that's the only way to go, but untill now NO photo's found on the Net.

Sorry I misread you, not quite awake yet...
There is also the MARS Drivers Training Vehicle, but you need to start from German MARS, it's on my project list, but I'm waiting for the new MARS kit that is also announced.

Not US I know, but here's another option :
The Artillery Gun Module (AGM) 155-mm self-propelled howitzer (a German private venture) :

You are probably thinking of the smaller, M113-based, M548 Fire Fighting vehicles. I have never seen any M993 carriers in civilian/private use.

You are correct sir, those are the ones I remember... but for some reason, I seem to recall a 993 in use by NASA for fires on a pad... I know they had 113 rescue vehicles, but in my mind I envision one that was built.... Probably just my over active imagination LOL.

Based on own experience, It´s hard if not impossibe to get any information for KMW.
CAD Images mean nothing.

Hi Frenchy,
That Crotale looks really smashing, but where to find a set of these missiles to put in the back of the MLRS ?
Anyway, thanks for the really good pictures !!

You're welcome Gé

But I'm afraid you'll have a hard time finding 1/35th scale Crotale missiles...
Here's another find :
This one was the Thomson CSF/LTV proposal (called Liberty) for the US Army's Line-of-Sight-Forward-Heavy (LOS-F-H) Air Defense Vehicle (ADV) competition, that was to be part of the Forward Area Air Defense System (FAADS). The missiles were modified Shahine ones (that dont exist in 1/35th scale AFAIK

).
I'm not sure the project went beyond the drawing-board stage though....

Didn't Heller release the Shahine version of the AMX 30?

I don't know Olivier...The closest match I've found is a 1/32nd scale desk model made by M.A.I (probably OOP) :

Hi guys,

Since I will have some time before that Meritt/Trumpeter model hits the shops, I'll have some serious thoughts of what to do with that old MLRS.
Thanks agian !..
