Hello all,
I airbrushed Vallejo Gloss Varnish onto periscopes and there is a minute amount of orange peel effect happening. These parts probably can't be sanded. Anyone have any ideas as to how to take care of the orange peel problem? Thanks!

I guess you could try removing the varnish using a fine tipped brush and vallejo airbrush thinner. Problem is, that is a very tight space you will be working on but it should at least thin out the varnish to level better.

If you have access to Future(or whatever name it goes by now)you might give it a try. It is self leveling and I have had luck with it filling in small scratches in clear parts. Might take more than one application.
You might try the airplane guys as they deal with clear parts much more than us treadheads.

The parts were still on the sprue. I managed to remove the varnish with a fingernail, although it took the clear blue paint clean off too. Now it just needs to be repainted as well. My initial thoughts were to add another kind of gloss varnish and try to level it. I guess the fox would have been almost impossible had the parts been fixed to the tank.

I am slowly learning that Vallejo primers, paints, and varnishes take a very long time to cure properly. The primer seems to take about a week to become rock solid.

If you get orange peel happening, it means your paint is partially drying before it hits the model. Try spraying a little closer.

Yes, use the Pledge floor wax as the clear for everything. It's a life saver.
