Picked the kit up during the pre christmas sale, have started work on her over the last week or so

Airfix Kit, Gaso.Line wheels and Airfix Etch set ( a right pain to find)

Front will be left off to aid in adding the etch and if i decide the crew as well, before paining.

Tape is to stop the doors swinging open and getting snapped off.

Resin wheels from Gaso.Line

I started to convert some Tamiya jerry cans to modern ones, only to discover on another forum these are incorrect and should be left as they are in the Tamiya set, anyhow shown here just to show i did manage to convert them L-R Tamiya original, Vallejo fine puty, Sanded and polished then Painted Black Grey and semi gloss varnish. Luckily only made 3 so have plenty left to use.

Etch arrived yesterday, so process of adding to kit has started, photos when i have added a few bits to the kit

Cheers

Steve

Great start. I love that whole Op Herrick range but haven't gone for any of the extras or etch. Will be very interested to see how it turns out.

They are also very well engineered. Not like old Airfix at all.

primer coat on (here)

Since these photos have added the base coat, applied a satin coat (last night) so hope to get into weathering the beast very soon.

So, with the satin coat dry, i moved onto weathering the underside of the coyote, to start with i made a paste of Tamiya matt varnish to which was added various pigments (Mig iraq sand, Europe earth, Humbrol sand and white, pastel sand dust and some AK rust - to add depth) this was then dabbed into all the recesses and bottom of the coyote and left to dry. Once dry some of the sand pigment mix was dropped onto the model and fixed with drops of pigment fixer, this stage took 3 goes as had to ensure the vertical sides were horizontal so the pigment didn't fall off.

With the Wheels, AK Sand wash was applied to each wheel and then the sand pigment mixture was dabbed onto the treads and left to dry. Once dry and using a large stiff flat brush, i removed 90% of the pigments and also removed some of the wash from the tyre walls. Just hope it was all worth it.

Couldnt resit dry fitting the wheels on one side;
