Beautiful job. Curious as to whether you will leave it as a stand alone or are planning to incorporate it into a diorama.

Not much chance of a dio as there are very few WWI Brit figures available, especially in 1/72, which also answers the next question. The moulding is sharp and crisp, and the fit is almost perfect, but all doors and hatches are moulded shut, which precludes any crew in hatches. It's a simple kit - from box to photos took just under two days. The body is a single slide-moulded piece which really makes the build a breeze. Just a bit of fit difficulty with the turret cylinders as they are in two halves, and when mated to the roof, didn't quite make it all the way around, leaving less than 1/2 mm gap - easy to fill. Instructions are a little vague with an illustration showing part # 5 with an arrow pointing to somewhere on part #6. You really have to study further instruction steps and the 3 view line drawings (which are excellent) for proper placement of parts.

Biggles,

Well done with the Austin Armoured Car.
Incidentally, there are several WWI British figure sets (including a two-man crew for the Austin AC) available from WD Models. While these are scaled at 1/76, they wouldn't look totally out of place with your model. No doubt you have closed up the turret hatches, so you probably won't be able to add the crew figures. However, it may be worth checking the other figure sets if you are looking to incorporate the vehicle in a diorama.

You can check out the WD range by visiting www.wdmodels.com

Regards,

Paul Bennett

Thanks. I will look at what they have. Can't put a crew in the hatches anyway, as they are all molded shut.

Aren't Emhar just as good (or as bad ) as Airfix and Revell/Italeri, HAT, etc? I'll most likely go with the W^D figures - they're metal, not soft plastic and have no flash. They also seem to be better sculpted and detailed. Poses are a little limited, but you make do with what's available.
