It's tied into amount of comments a person has.

That is an odd database malfunction, if you didnt deliberately change it.
You can choose your rank system in your settings. US Army officers is the default. If you didnt go in there and change it, it is inexplicable. also, the 2nd lt. is the newb setting 0-100 posts. If you did change it you would have gotten a silver bar.

here is the faq with the milestones for each system...

A silver bar is a 1st Lt not a second. I never chose anything in settings . However, If I did. I would've picked enlisted man . Sgt. was the highest rank I actually received while serving in Vietnam . as you can see the comment count and rank doesn't add up ,according to the chart you sent me . no big deal, it doesn't mean anything . I was just curious .

Hi, All! I would think that pertinent commentary and/or the number of posts would have at least something to do with rising "through the ranks". I myself have gone from (US Army/USMC) 2nd Lieutenant up through to Brigadier General in what seemed like no time, WITHOUT HAVING TOUCHED ANYTHING on this site. This is in NO WAY meant to be any kind of a boast. I'm just stating the facts...

I haven't done any reviews or builds on this site, mainly because I don't have a digital camera, which isn't a big priority with me right now. I don't think that posting reviews or build articles are prerequisites in "rising through the ranks", but I DO think that doing so does help, not that I think that "rising through the ranks" is that important in and of itself. Nevertheless it IS a "nice touch", in addition to all of the other great features that are featured on this site!

It used to be that you could pick your country or your branch of service, but now I think that applies only if you a paying member along with some other perks.

Yes, if you "subscribe" for US$3.50 a month all the blinking ads go away.
and yes, I checked, the choice of 20 different rank systems is now in the subscribers' benefits box.

My younger brother was recently promoted to Bird Colonel (for real, that is). Now I've come to find out I'm a Brigadier General and I outrank him ... sweeeet!!!
