Wondering if anyone has good pics of Panthers in M10 disguises. I know it was something the did at Battle of the Bulge. Did the Germans use them anywhere else?

Jim

Jim is right, The dressed up Panthers were only used in the bulge. I believe it was part of the same op that put German forces in US uniforms. I have some pics but I'll have to find them. As soon as I do I'll get them up.

It's also on the DML 2004 list as well.

Given DML's Panther G's are pretty nice, even with the fantasy panther boxings. I might wait for that one.

But otoh, Academy does more US tank destroyers..

I made my own out of an old Tamiya Panther and some plastic sheets. Of course I gave it the old OD paint job. I wanna make a dio where a US M10 and some troopers are checking out a knocked out Panther/M10. Thought it woud be fun to see an real M10 and a fake M10 meeting face to face

The Ersatz M10 was part of Panzer Brig 150 that was put together by Otto Skorzeny.. It also included Stugs and captured and repainted vehicles to try and infiltrate the US lines and cause confusion... Unfortunately for the Germans, it was used as a standard unit against the Allies in the Battle of the Bulge and was easily defeated.. :-)

Hi,

At Achtung Panzer you have one more photo.

At Modeler Site edition of November 2002 you also have an article about the building of one.

Shermie
The October 1987 Fine Scale Modeler has an article on building/converting this. I think I have a copy at home, but will have to check. PM me your snail mail address and if I have this issue I will copy and send you.

Concord's Panther book has some reference with a couple of photos of these conversions.

Hi,

Here at HyperScale you have a drawing M10 drawing from the M10 hull if you want to use it as a guide for the panels to disguise the Panther hull.
