Hi! I am building the Academy M977 HEMTT and I was wondering if there was anyone that had any reference images of the M977 Hemtt loaded with freight? Most of the images that I have been able to find show the Hemtt hauling amounts of tubing or canvas covered cargo. I was looking for something along the lines of large crates or containters? Any help is appreciated!

Thank you! I'll post some WIP pictures later!

I believe the "tubing" you are referring to are the MLRS rocket pods. That was its intended cargo. Although I'm sure they did haul other things at times, the rocket pods was the primary cargo.

MLRS launch containers are only carried on M985 HEMTT`s The M983 has a stronger crane to handle the weight of the MLRS pods.
I saw various M1120 HEMTT-LHS durimg exercises. Load varied from ammo crates on pallets, tires on palllets, artilery rounds and propellant containers to MICLIC trailers. so I think the possibilities are endless.

M977 HEMTTs are used to carry everything. They are a general cargo truck with a 10-ton load capacity.

I stand corrected. I was thinking of the M985. Thanks for that.

Fuel (?) drums :

I`d that a large container to transport spare engines or other bulk good.

Yes, on the trailer. In the bed of the truck are 55 gal oil drums.

Sorry for the duplicated sand bags picture. I've posted it from my computer at work and access to some stuff (like pics from Olive-drab.com) is blocked...

Two more :

Thanks guys! I think I am going to go for a smattering of miscellaneous items. A couple 55 gallon drums and 4 large wooden crates along with some smaller boxes and supplies. I was thinking of doing a couple Patriot Missile pods but this is also going to be my first vignette and I don't want to add too much to my plate.

Well looks like that is officially off the list! I think I would still like to make a couple pods in 1/72 for a future Diorama/vignette though. They look like a nice subject to scratch build.

It's M985E1.

By the way, the only difference between M977 and M985 are stronger hydraulics pipes and couplings and different crane hook (or actually hook block) in M985. All other components are common. The easiest way to tell them apart is by the crane hook: if it has small hook, it is M977, if it has larger hook block, it is M985.

Wasn't there a rumor of Italeri making a M1120 in 1/35 scale.

Here are some pictures of the current WIP. I still have some crane detail to finish, then weathering, stowage and cargo and finally the base for the Vignette:
