Guys,
with the profusion of 1/16 panzers either on the market, or about to be on the market, what sort of demand would there be for a crew, either in resin or plastic? And preference for theater?
Myself, I'd like a complete crew for the Panzer IV, for Normandy, ideally in plastic (cost wise), but I'd take resin (one figure at a time). I've the Trumpeter IV ausf 'H', and I'd like to add Classy's Panzer IIL to my stash some time soon, too.
I ask this given that there are a gazillion panzer crews in 1/35, and was wondering whether this would translate into 1/16.

It would be good to see a full crew but I not sure if any manufacturer would take the risk of doing a full crew. Tamiya might release some more 1/16th figures now there are more vehicles in that scale.
A commander figure of the 1st or 12th SS would be very nice and another for the eastern front would be great.
In the mean time some of their later war figures would go well with a Panzer lV H and the J not to mention the Russian releases.

Hi
Whilst most companies such as Alpine etc. enjoy the work they do, they are in business after all to make money and have to evaluate the potential of a good return on their investment.
As the cost of one 120mm or 1/16th scale figure is quite high, multiplying that by five for a crew set would probably only appeal and be affordable to a small market sector and as such they wouldn't sell that many.
Many of the existing figures are purchased by folks that are only really interested in figure painting and would never make a armoured vehicle or tank so again they wouldn't be interested in a crew in poses within a tank etc.
There are plenty of individual figures in that scale so you could add one our two from what is available already.
Alpine, which I mentioned before, and Verlinden, if you can find them did quite a few. There are others but I've only ever brought Alpine in that scale.

Most of the old Verlinden 1/16th tank crew figures can be found on e-bay. There are a number of full figure tank commanders and crew members, as well as sets of partial figures that can be positioned in open hatches.
I'm not aware of any mfg that produces full seated crew figures in that scale.
Good hunting,
Kurt

DLM Models has a few crew options that are different than what is out there for 1/16 or 120mm
http://dlmmodeldes.com/portfolio/116-medium-heavy-panzer-crew-from-1943-onwards/
I do not know though if they are active or not
besides DLM there are quite a few option with 1/16 or 120mm panzer personnel like verlinden, alpine, tamyia, dragon etc
also when combining different figures try to either get them all in 1/16 or 120mm.
120mm is a little bigger than 1/16 scale. the 1/16 scale will be more accurate for your 1/16 tank

Hay, nothing to apologise for, that is all good stuff; thank you.
Please, add any further photos you need. I was unaware of the DLM crew, and am now seriously contemplating them as an option.
Nice work on your Panzer IV, too. The figures add a sense of life and scale to it.

Hi Chaps, sorry for butting in. It might be helpful to know that dlmmodeldes.com's 1/16 'panzer crew at rest', set of 5 resin figures were intended specifically to fit within the 1/16 range and to fit well with the Alpine range in terms of proportion. With 3 figures dressed in the one piece overall they are intended to suit mid and late war scenes. The faces are also intended to be a bit more youthful so that the whole set of 5 could represent an HJ crew with a couple of older crew members.
Single figure orders are not really cost effective but orders for 2 or 3 are acceptable. The website is being troublesome at the moment but emails to [email protected] will usually get through unless you are using some weird telephone network.
Regards
Jo

Thank you for the news, do you have a price for the figures, please? Also, are you abe to post images of the figures here, until the website is working?
Best regards
