I know, I know, it's been to quiet over from this side of the internet lately.

Well, aside from the 10+ inches of snow in the last two weeks, and the -20 to -30 F temps at night we are getting here, I am actually getting some work done, here is proof:

Soviet BMP-2 early. This is the 1/35 DML kit with a SP Designs new upper hull and a SP Designs early BMP-2 turret. It does not show, but I opened up the barrel and "baffle" on the Auto-cannon barrel, hard work but it saves me from having to pony up for the Model point barrel.

Russian BZM. Another 1/35 Conversion from SP Designs. Pretty easy conversion with only 3 pieces. I put it on a DML kit. Real vehicle is a preproduction/test vehcile used to carry fuel and lubricants in a hostile rear-area. Based on lessons learned in Chechnya.

And the piece-de-resistance...my T-72 ROBAT. I based this on a idea of the russian answer to the US Panther and Panther II. Just the HORRIBLE Trumpeter T-72 kit with fixes, adjustments, and DML reactive armor from their T-72 w/ERA kit. I used new chain for the mineroller, and rebult the rear deck grille...the Trumpeter stickers, yes stickers, were too much for even I to handle.

I think the T-72 ROBAT will be a TW2000/2004 entry. :-)

Everything looks really nice and I can't wait to see it all painted and weathered. Its also nice to see some modern Russian stuff. Always interesting to actually see what else came out of the Cold War besides the Abrams and the Bradley. Nice job and keep us posted.

They are looking good. I agree that we need more kits from the cold war era. It seems that every thing that comes out anymore is WW2 kits.

Any idea where I can get some replacement tracks for one of these? I have an old ESCI kit of a BMP and I'd really like to build it I just don't want to have to mess with the junk solid plastic track pieces that came with it. Thanks!

well, I guess there are three BMP track options.

1. Use the kit tracks. I have inthe past...here is my BMP-1PG with the esci kit tracks...no problems I can see with them.

2. Accurate Armor makes a set of resin tracks...they come in, I believe, 8 or 10 tracks per length.

3. Armor Track Models (Trumpeter branch off) makes a set of tracks.

Again, personally, I think the kit tracks are fine...
