Hi all, after applying decals I have sealed my latest project with Testors Lacquer (Dullcote), this is the first time I have used this product. Just after feedback from the experienced, as to whether I'm likely to encounter any issues using enamel or acrylic thinners during the weathering process.
Cheers FLASH

I have not had any problems using either enamel or acrylic washes over a completely cured coat of Dullcote.

So long as you don't use lacquer thinner, you should encounter no issues.

I've used Testors Dullcote for years. It's my favorite matte finish. I don't have any problems using washes or weathering over a fully cured layer of Dullcote. And yes, do not use lacquer thinner or else you will have issues!

I just did this last week and have had no problems with enamels or acrylics over the Dullcoat.
I did have a very interesting interaction when the Dullcoat was sprayed over dry transfers which were over clear lacquer which was over Tamiya spray bomb paint. The transfers melted resulting in a rudely brushed on or roughly stenciled look. It was just what I was looking for but not what I expected. It was just a happy accident . . .

WOW! That's new to me- I've used TESTORS 1960 Lusterless Flat (Dullcote isn't quite as FLAT) over ARCHER Dry Transfers for years without ANY negative effects. Maybe it was your Clear Lacquer reacting to the Dullcote?
I ALWAYS wait at least 48 hours of curing time between coats of ANY Clear Lacquer. It's more time consuming, yes- But the extra wait time is worth it in the end...

GOTTA be careful with Lacquer Thinners- They tend to be pretty "hot" as we used to say in the Automobile business...

These were Archer's transfers which I have used other times without huhu. This time I had prepped the surface for decals with Mr. Hobby gloss clear lacquer. My long searched for Soviet gothic number decals refused to work so I went back to the Archers as tried & true even thought the size was a bit too small.
The transfers went on perfectly and looked entirely too perfect for a North Korean T-34/85 so I was thinking of what to do about this when the Dullcoat did its magic and roughed them up very realistically.
If you are interested I'll shoot some pics.
