Jim gives us a peek inside the box of this new kit from new manufacturer Hong. An interesting subject that appears to be well produced and with a good level of detailed parts, photoetch, and marking options.

Nice review Jim, looks like a quality kit of a different kind of vehicle. I'll order mine right off. Thanks

The lack of comments here just goes to show how the trashing of a model in our forums basically kills any interest for a new model. The first newly tooled Shilka in over 20 years, and the interest level is unbelievably low. Personally, I think it looks pretty darn nice, might just pick one up. Thanks for the presentation, Jim!

Got to be my Fav Modern AFV. This kit looks awesome, great detail. Am I right in saying that some one else is kitting out a new Shilka
If so I'm going to wait and see. A new kit of a Shilka is great news, we are spoilt as modellers. I think that this could be my 1st modern AAA AFV I'm going to buy. Thanks Jim the spruce shots are great. Tracks look a little fiddly, the trade off for such great detail! Thanks again Jim. Does anyone know if another AAA killer Shilka is being made by another manufacturer? Cheers Geraint

Which is the better kit? Based on reputation I'd say Meng , it sounds like it's just now starting to land on some modellers doorsteps. It looks like Matt Nethery will be doing a review of Hong https://armorama.kitmaker.net/forums/244636&page=1 so that's something to keep an eye out for.

I generally refrain from making comments unless I have the kit, have seen the kit, or there is good documentation.
That said, the tracks in all three kits...DML, MENG, and HONG are all incorrect. If you want proper tracks the only proper ones I know of are the Fruil tracks.
