I am curious, was that an M3 Lee, and was there anything special added to if for the filming?

Thanks!

Chip, yes she was an M3 and in both version of the movie too. As far as I can tell no nothing was added to the Tanks in either movie, but the new with Jim Belushi in Bogart's role realy showed the personality of those old M3's to a tee. It seemed to me that they were always in the engine compartment. STUG

Oooooohhh man. ....now you're gonna make me take my Lee off the shelf! I've got enough projects going at the moment. Another, I don't need.

Actually, I'm not familiar with the 'remake'....you say Jim Belushi was in it? How long ago was this?

Wait a minute.....wasn't his more talented brother John in a movie with a tank? Anybody remember which film that was, and what tank?

I've never heard of the Sahara remake with Jim Belushi either. Any details on it? John Belushi was in 1941, the Steven Spielburg flop that had Dan Ackroyd, Jim Belushi, Tim Matherson, John Candy, and Robert Stack. Belushi was a fighter pilot flying a P40. The tank was an M3 Lee alright, another good subject for making the Tamiya oldie.

If anybody's interested my first model after getting back into the hobby is an M3 Lee that is made to look like the tank from Sahara. If you're interested it's picture is in my gallery. Funny thing is the serial number in the Tamiya kit is only a couple digits off the one from the movie. I wonder if they did that on purpose?

Yeah, the Jim Belushi remake was in the late 90's for showtime. I got it on tape and it was a good one. Belushi did a much better job making the sarge believable, but old Lulu Belle stole the flick right out from everyone. Though both are great flicks. STUG

Thanks guys. I got Sahara, the old one, from a local thrift store. I have always been a fan of it, and then I found it. It was like finding gold.

I have another problem, how do I go about making that little stone building at the well that they had to defend?

Thanks!
