What would a 1945 Spring/warmer weather crew be wearing on the active battlefield?
I've read most books but can't get an accurate answer for that late in the war.

Here's the footage of the first company of the 512th Schwere Panzerjager Abteilung surrendering at Iserlohn in April, 1945.

Some black wool panzer jackets, some a lighter color uniform, which might be Feldgrau wool or possibly the reed green cotton fatigue uniform. Since they were Panzerjager rather than panzer crew, the piping on the jackets and caps was probably artillery red rather than pink.

Thanks Gerald, I have that, but thought that wasn't what they were wearing in the field during combat, maybe just for surrender, not sure

That film is the best ref you will find I think, and reflects what they would be wearing in the field as well. The cmdr has on overalls for instance. Hardly parade ground attire.
The piping would be red yes,but I looked at the crews lined up and only the older hands wore the black wraps with the piping on the lapel. The later and more common version had no piping on the lapel so the piping would just be on the shoulder straps, not the hats either. Makes it much easier to paint! heheheh

Other photos of armored crew members wearing a variety of sweaters - pullovers, turtlenecks, etc., and scarves under their tunics and jackets. Some in civilian colors. Lots of uniform items were mixed and matched.
