I like all 3, especially the Gepard, after recently acquiring one of their Leo C2's.

Finally Takom the Gepard. I have been anticipating a new tool Gepard since Takom and Meng announced their Leopard 1 series!!! Many thanks to Takom.

The Marksman and the Mk2 Chieftain are also most welcome additions.

Looks like the correct additional gap is there between 3rd and 4th roadwheels.

We're poorly served when it comes to ARVs or AEVs of any kind in plastic. Aside from Italeri's Bergepanther, AFV Club's M88A1 and Takom's new M9 ACE, I can't think of any others. Obviously these kits don't sell very well but a Centurion ARV Mk.I would be greatly appreciated from someone!

Cheers,

Chris

Give. They've done the Marksman turret, and have T-55 versions in the works, can a Finnish T-55 with Marksman be far away?

No only ever as a trials and marketing, however it does still exist at the Imperial War Museum Duxford and is still a runner.

Couple of pictures of it in THIS feature.

Let's pray for that.
I'm in for a Gepard, so I can finally sell my still in box ancient Tamiya kit with Eduard PE

The Marksman and the Chieftain are already on preorder. But no sign of the Gepard!

Not quite so simple.

If you want to build the company demonstrator T-55 or Type 59 vehicles, then you can use the Chieftain Marksman turret unaltered (it was the only turret available and was swapped around onto different vehicles as appropriate). There was even a ground-based 'stellung' concept at one point.

For a Finnish T-55/Marksman combo (the only country that operated the Marksman system), there are a number of changes to be made to represent the production turret (only about 12 built I think), not least changing the gun pods to a later (somewhat simpler) shape.

Just to confuse the issue, the company demonstrator tank was 'finished' in the standard multi-colour splinter scheme as part of the sales drive and testing programme in Finland.

The Finnish production vehicles were created by purchasing new-build (very late production) T-55 chassis from Poland and mating them to the Marksman turret.

As an aside, the Marksman was designed from the outset to be a straight drop-in to the T-54/55/Type 59/Type 69 turret race with no modifications - the turret was entirely self-contained. Fitting it to any other MBT required specially designed adaptors.

Regards,
John

Those guns on the Marksman look remarkably like the ones on the JGSDF Type 87 AW

https://armorama.kitmaker.net/forums/220667&page=1

Did they use the same guns?

EDIT: WIKI is your friend. Apparently both used this Oerlikon 35mm gun. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oerlikon_GDF)

Shouldn't the Gepard have a gap in the roadwheel spacing?
Edit: Looks like on the bigger picture that the gap is there. Nice!

Hmmmm - didn't realise that the Finns had transferred their Marksman turrets to Leo 2s...

Note that the front section of the Finnish gun pods are squarer than the Gepard style gun pods used on the factory demonstrator turret.

Yep Finland has gone to an all Leopard fleet, they have fitted the Markman turret to their older 2A4 from the old T-55 so that the SPAA can keep up with the MBT.
