I'm making a model of a Bergepanzer III and theres a photo on the web of one towing a Panzerbergeanker, that being a rather chunky ground anchor which would be deployed to anchor the Bergpanzer when winching a disabled tank. Basically it would stop the winch simply pulling the Berpanzer towards the disabled tank.
But heres the rub. As far as I can see the Bergepanzer wasn't equiped with a winch of any kind. A crane yes but certainly not a powerful winch.
Can anyone throw light on this. The two together make a nice combo if the Panzerbergeanker were to be scratch built but I'm not sure it could have been use with this recovery tank.

Maybe the photos of this 1/35 model give a clue as obviously there's a winch on the anker itself:

Rather simple drawing of a Bergepanzer III and the Bergeanker in use:
They have a bergeanker resin kit (see item 3580 in "Preisliste"):

Good photos and i hadnt seen that model before, but i dont think that winch is the answer. Its manual not powered and i think more likely used to get the anchor back out of the ground and up on to its wheels again. If that winch were used in the tank recovery you wouldnt need the Bergepanzer in between.

You're right about the winch ( it's actually saying in the captions that the winch is being used for that). When looking at the drawing the Bergepanzer is connected with the Bergepanzer with a cable. It's the Bergepanzer itself being used as winch by driving towards the Bergeanker while pulling at the cable, there's a sort of pulley between that cable and the cable connected with the panzer to recover so the panzer will be pulled upwards.

I mean of course that the Bergepanzer is connected with the Bergeanker with a cable.

Thats an interesting idea and could well be how it worked. Cheers.
I like the look of the resin kit too, would save me a lot of scratching!
