What do you think is the best Dullcote? I am using (Clear Flat) from MICRO- MARK. It gets it dull but also looks like dust on the model. I am looking for a clear dullcote. It looks alright on Armor but not very good on figures. Thanks.

Testors dullcote is excellent! Dries clear, definitely doesn't look like dust. I've used it over acrylic, enamels, and aluminum foil. It has no bad vices that I've ever heard about.
Best wishes,
Gary

Just an aside. On soft skin vehicles I use a wiper area mask and a quick light spray of Dullcote. Results in a dusty looking window.

From the bottle into my airbrush. I thin it with Testors thinner in the red can, but have also used plain lacquer thinner. I don't use rattle cans if I can avoid it. Too much overspray, and too hard to control.

I like TESTORS #1960 Lusterless (Flat) in the spray can to achieve a "Dead Flat" surface. For an "Egg-shell" surface, I'll use TESTORS Dullcote. I like the Lusterless as a final coat for figures' clothing, tarps, packs, etc. You have to be careful to just "mist" your "Flat" on your subject, rather than leave a "wet" coat with ANY Flat Clear, otherwise there will be a good chance that your subject will take on a "semi-flat" surface. I like to use the TESTORS bottled Flat, Semi-flat, and High Gloss Lacquers, as well. A light touch is best; remember that "less is more"...
PS- TAMIYA's bottled Acrylic Clear Flat is meant to be used as an ADDITIVE to Gloss paints, rather than as a flat coat- If you use TAMIYA's bottled Clear Flat as a flat final coat, it will "blush", meaning it will look like you sprayed on a thinned-down White or Light Gray coating once it dries...

I use Testors Dullcote and Microscale Industries Micro-Satin. I have only recently begun reducing Dullcote with generic lacquer thinner. Micro-Satin I use straight from the bottle. I had to bin a model, after using Testors Lusterless spray. The dullcote became hazy, with streaks. Testors lacquers can't be used directly over each other. So, don't spray Lusterless over Dullcote or vice versa.

I tell ya fella, i started using Testors Dullcote about a year and a half ago....I LOVE IT! I thin it with Klean-Strip Lacquer thinner about 45/55-Dullcote/thinner and WOW, that stuff is awesome. Ive never had it try and turn white, frosty, milky or the like. I read reports of a few that have had issues. I personally dont know how that happens as ive sprayed it during winter, Wet weather, Hot-Humid days...no issues EVER! i give it 2-3 days to cure and its held up to all the weathering i can throw at it.
Good Luck,
Gary
