I am looking for information on the above pictured Jagdpanther and or the unit history it may have belonged to. I really like the pattern above but I don't want to make a model of an AFV that I don't know the history of... If that make sense. I just picked up the Tamiya late model version and am looking for an interesting paint scheme. I really appreciate any info I can get. I'm a bit worried that my air brush skills aren't up to the 3 toned patterns I see for jagdpanthers so if anyone knows of a cool 2 tone pattern or a 3 tone that can be done with masking like the one above please let me know. I know later in the war a hard edge pattern was use and factory sprayed but how did a pattern this different come about? Was it crew applied or was there a factory paint team that was artistic?😋 All info is appreciated! Easy to spray, historically accurate, Jagdpanther paint schemes for the late version are especially appreciated! Thanks!

Hey Bryan!

Here is an image of the actual vehicle:
http://www.dishmodels.ru/gshow.htm?mode=P&vmode=T&p=4973&id=58890&tp=g
It is a very late G1 from 654 sPzJgAbt made in October 1944 at the earliest. Unlike your illustration, it has a mono-block barrel tube.
Here is a link to a very comprehensive article on the subject:

It is in Russian, but the photos and graphics are set up chronologically so you can see a lot of details...

Nice links Paul.

Bryan, if you notice, some of the pictures before and after that one are a different vehicle with the same pattern.

You're welcome Bryan.
There is also a number of walkarounds of surviving vehicles if you want to have 'that' level of authenticity.

No, i'm not looking to completely recreate an actual Jagdpanther I was more looking for an interesting paint scheme that I could complete using masking techniques. Free handing German cammo with my AB is still a little daunting for me. Looking at the actual pic of the TD that the artist based their work on, I feel they took some liberties as the cammo looks soft edged in the photo. Perhaps the TD in the pic was heavily weathered but the transitions between colors does not look sharp at all, like it would be if masking was used. Thanks again for the link. I wish I spoke Russian! I still have to finish my Firefly and M51 before I get to the Jagdpanther. Hopefully I will be more comfortable with my AB by then!
Thanks again for the info! I hope you are safe and happy in Ukraine. That place is on the news everyday here.

I did a hack and slash conversion of that Tamiya kit to a G2 two years ago I can give you a link to the build log. It's on another forum though. That's if you want to keep the tools from the Tamiya one off the sides and on the deck. It would look more like your reference vehicle in ways then.
