Operation cover Up---
“Outflanked”
“Fumbling with the ejectors of his MG42, the gunner hears the shout that they have been outflanked.”
Started with a two 1/35 scale Tamyia - add one DML and one Academy Head, a whole lots of A&B Putty for tent quarter and winter smock, and some DML German Equipment extras...
Then reconstructed Tamyia MG42 with is housing cover up for repairs, added Psh41 from a Dragon Russian sniper kit and a few odd an ends from my junk box...
Dropped the whole thing atop a teak salad bowl flipped upside down, with some Durham Water Putty Buildings and debris, with some sandbags made from tissue and filled with fine railroad sand...
A little paint and here it is... and I already see at least 10 things I need to change and improve.
I will redo it and post some new pixs with the improvements, plus and improvements you comments might incite.
Thanks for allowing me in to the Campaign... had a blast.

Neill,
now I would relly need a smiley clapping hands! This is an excellent piece of work! It´s amazing how you have managed to put that much scene in such a small base!
Everything here is just excellent. As in reality, there is more detail than the eye can catch. Those guys stuck in such a tight trench, you really feel the pressure of hard battle and danger.
Weathering effects and rubble look very realistic and the figures fit in perfectly.
Nice gritty color palette as well. Man, you have even succeeded in showing the reloading of the MG!
Just apply a simple brass name plate and you have a winner here!
Impressive!

The diorama is small but well done. Good work! I think the flag is a little stiff.

That's really cool! Great work. I really like the depth of detail. Looks like the figs were modified or scratch built. Can you give us a run down on what you used? This would make an excellent SBS or process tutorial.
Great sense of space, proportion, composition, and drama.

That's a great looking dio, I think it might even work better witout the kubelwagen over it. See if you can shoot a few pics in natural light, that may help bring out a lot of the detials, I'd like to admire it in natural light!!!

I'm sorry but I cannot tell from the pics. Are the soldiers firing in both directions? The overall shot is a little blurred. It appears they are in a serious wolrd of hurt taking fire from both sides.

Thanks everyone for the words of encouragement.
By the way I agree the flag is too stiff... it is already gone and a new one in process
And the PIX to darkand blurring... (Heck is was late at night and I was rushing to meet the deadline!). I am looking to purchase a new camera for digitals… and suggestions on the best oneto buy?
I will try to do some more pics this weekend and set up a web page for those who asked to see more details.
And for those who mention an article I am working on one for a slightly different piece that will encompass everything I did here and a bit more.
Thanks again for your kind words on my work,
John

This dio has a lot to say in such a small display. You have a talent for expressing yourself in 3 D. I like the subject you have chosen Can't wait to see more photos of the progress. Thanks for sharing
