This is for the Zvezda kit right? Gotta buy another if that is the case...

Would this work on any of the other manufacturer's kits? i.e. Dragon or AFV Club? It's unusual enough I'd like to get one.

This looks more like a SdKfz 251/18 Beobachtungspanzerwagen. The /6 did not have the table over the driver's section.

Well then you'd be better off telling Carlos that, because I was just copying what he said in the news story.

According to that site it's a Sd.Kfz. 251/6 mittlere Kommandopanzerwagen Ausf A.

Thanks for the comment Chris. The manufacturer did not identify the model (or at least I did not see it), and according to my reference on hand, the Encyclopaedia of German tanks by Richard Chamberlain, it was a /6.

Afterwards on Wydanictwo series I have seen a photo similar to this vehicle (without side armour) carrying a pennant so I would say it is a command vehicle. It is the fourth photo on Christophe's link.

On the same book there is another similar one but identified as /18 so... honestly, I am no sure.

And I have no reliable references to check, other than the book said first.

According to my research and references, this is a very specific vehicle, belonging to Maj.Dr.Eckinger, commander of the 1.Btn, 113 Schützenregt. 1 Pz.Div. during Barbarossa.
The maptable is very specific for the 1 Pz.Div. and those additional armor plates to the sides for this vehicle.
During that time the 251/3 designation was used for artillery tractors and the 251/6 was for the higher command. As far as I could deduct this was a converted 251/1 Ausf.A used in a command role.
There is a series of pictures of this vehicle when passing the station of Aiviekste in Latvia. Eckinger fell not to long after that.

Did the research and build back in 2007/2008.

They didn't. The only sd.kfz.251 kits DML were of the Ausf C and D which did not have the the pointed front this 1/2track has.
