Hello, Just keeping everyone posted on my progress. I have finished drybrushing the outside of the barn, i painted and rusted the hinges, Made the latches on the doors, finished the crosses(for lack of the proper term) atop the roof, lightened the thatch just a touch and installed the window all the way down to the caulking lol. Anyway, any and all comments are welcome.I would appreciate any suggestions as I have been looking at this "barn" to much lately. So please fire away. Hopefully its on to the inside and I can add all the goodies there. Cheers Kevin

Nice! That looks great! I have one idea to add that extra touch of a used and weathered building. Water "damage" Note the places where rain water and such is likely to streak and discolor the roof and walls more intensely than the rest. The outer edges of the roof, the area along the loft extension, etc...

its looking great kev,
one thing i would suggest is add some moss growth to the roof, if you look at tpictures of any thatched roof, they have moss growing on them, maybe just airbrush some green onto the roof in a few places?
cheers
joe

Thanks for the comments guys. Questions here. How would I go about making the water marks? Once again this is all new to me, and I dont understand how I would go about doing that. And also the mossy color would that be like a dk green-black color? Once again thanks to everyone for there advice. Cheers Kevin

There is a series of articles by MIG on the miising link sight that explains how to make rain marks and other types of weathering. I think that would be an excellent place to start. I personaly think your Barn is excellent now!!! GREAT work.

Hey Jackhammer!
When I put washes on the model shown below I used washes starting with the lightest and thinnest and moving darker toward the locations of highest contact. In the final dio, all this detail is covered up by snow, so it turned out just to be practice. The washes were whites and grays primarily. Just look around at the roofs you used as examples and you'll see where the rainwater has discolored some areas more than others.
